About this Website:
In the spring of 2022 when the Covid-19 lockdown was easing up I was inspired to create a website that would provide local information. Residents and guests visiting the town were unsure of which businesses were open. Business owners that had survived to this point were trying to remain open. This website grew to include a calendar of events, local newspapers, weather information, wineries, restaurants, maps and more.
There was a need to find a name for the website. Most obvious domain names were already taken and the objective was to go online by July 01, 2022. I started to recall growing up in the 1960's that phone numbers only contained four digits. The numbers in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake all started with three common digits being "468". The 4 and the 6 corresponded to the "H" and the "O" on the phone which formed the first two letters of the name "Howard". We then followed that with the digit "8" and the phone number became "Howard8****" , where the "****" were the unique four digits of your personal phone number.
From this the domain name Howard8Niagara was created. Shortly afterwards a second name was created which was much easier to remember. This name is GoToNiagara.com and contains the same information as Howard8Niagara.com.
